Charity Fashion Fundraiser a Huge Success
Clothes are a necessary part of life and a great avenue for exhibiting individual style and personality. On August 19th, Carla Bono and her colleagues worked to bring threads and buttons to the forefront of everyone’s mind. Bono hosted a fashion show in order to raise money for the “not for profit group in the Niagara Region in Ontario, the Niagara Life Centre,” Bono said.
The goal of the night was to showcase the fabulous pieces in order to raise awareness and money for the centre. The Niagara Life Centre is a centre for men and women to come to when they are looking for help in many areas of their life. The centre was founded in order to be a safe haven for men and women who had nowhere else to turn when they found themselves facing an unplanned pregnancy. After the service of the centre became known, the need for expansion became apparent. The Niagara Life Centre then started “to provide long-term counseling for the clients’ emotional, mental, physical and spiritual needs,” according to their website.
Bono hosted the third party fundraiser for this great cause and for her the most memorable moment was when “the children in the show were dancing; showing us what the whole event was about.” In order to spread word of the event, Bono used social and print media, as well flyers that they spread around the community. She also mentioned that word of mouth was effective in bringing in an audience. To plan such an event, Bono advises others to “make sure that you have people that work well with you, and are able to commit to their goals.”
